Sanneke Kuipers is Professor of Political Science at Leiden University and senior researcher-advisor at Crisisplan BV, an international crisis management consultancy firm based in the Netherlands.
Sanneke teaches and publishes on post-crisis blaming and accountability, transboundary crises, organizational crises and on institutional development of public organizations. She’s currently involved in an EU 7th framework project (ANVIL) that aims to map and compare civil security systems in EU-member states. In that project, she is responsible for the research design.
Previously, Sanneke has worked at Leiden University (PhD and postdoc position), Amsterdam VU University (assistant professor), Syracuse University (visiting scholar), and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (research assistant). Her dissertation, defended in Leiden, on crisis rhetoric and welfare state reform won two national awards (best Public Administration and best Political Science dissertation of 2004) and was subsequently published by Amsterdam University Press (2006).
