Simon Hollis earned his PhD in International Relations at the Hertie School of Governance in 2012.
Since then he has been working on a postdoctoral project financed by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency that examines how international organizations support the capacity of developing states in the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands to mitigate risk. He has published a number of peer-review articles on global and regional aspects of disaster management and is author of Regional Disaster Risk Management: A Global Strategy for Resilience (Palgrave Macmillan). Simon also does consultancy work for a World Bank project on disaster risk reduction and is a postdoctoral researcher at the Swedish Defence University.
